“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. May will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” Matthew 7:21-23
A warning to us all! You can do things for the Lord, and perhaps even get a charge in the doing, meanwhile not actually have relationship with Him. We can get so busy that we miss it, and actually see connection with the Father through performing. “Daddy, do you see me? Here I am God. Look what I did? Does it make you happy? Do you love it?”- we say in our hearts before the Father.
“Yes , thank you. That’s wonderful, but how about you come be with me for a while. Let’s talk. I love you.” – the Father responds.
It’s in the small disciplines and daily meeting with Him that we stay grounded as ministers. Grounded in who He is, who we are, grounded in where we are going and grounded in His love.
